We ended our 10 weeks in NZ with an astoundingly timely pre-arranged engagement to speak to a combined Jewish and Christian Hanukkah event in Christchurch.
We were grateful for a visible police presence at the event, and it was a privilege especially to see the Jewish community members present deeply touched by our stories of standing with Israel as a family.
The events of Hanukkah speak of people in mortal danger demonstrating tremendous bravery due to their faith in God. The Bondi massacre calls for that same spirit of courage once again in both the Christian and Jewish communities.
When we travelled to Israel as a family barely a month after the current war started, people thought we were brave. Yet we were simply obeying God’s clear calling and timing in our lives, and with that came a tremendous supernatural peace and courage. We had no fear, because we knew deep down that this was God’s plan for us.
The story of Hanukkah is about everyday people, who stood up – and by God’s grace – became heroes in a time of great need. May Hanukkah inspire fresh courage in Jews and Christians today, a courage and strength that can only come from above.
