It is chilling watching the situation in Iran with reports of 20’000 (or more) protestors being killed by the government, while President Trump is weighing up significant military intervention based on the reported numbers coming through.
It makes me think of the point in the Book of Revelation where God states He will not act further until the full number of martyrs is complete (Rev 6:10-11).
The story of Iran right now is in this way giving us a preview of End Time events. And just as all of us are praying for a stop to the killing of protesters in Iran, so there is coming a day when there will be a mighty outcry to heaven for God to intervene in the persecution of His people. His intervention will come, but the Bible tells us it will only happen after the full number of martyrs is complete.
There are challenging times ahead, times that require tremendous commitment, courage and even sacrifice like that of the Iranian protesters. However we can find hope and courage from the certainty that God will intervene. This final wicked empire will be defeated, and a day is coming when His peaceful and righteous Kingdom will finally be established on this earth.
May that day come soon!
