“And the Lord thy God will cast out these nations before you little by little…. lest the wild beasts grow too numerous for you”
Deut 7:22
Victories and breakthroughs come from God. However, God isn’t only concerned about giving us victory, but also about how we get the victory. He knows that easily won victories ultimately can end in defeat.
We can be in such a hurry to get our victory and breakthrough that we grow impatient with God’s little by little approach. “Why can’t I have the full miracle right now?” we ask ourselves.
God has a timing, and has important lessons He wants us to learn along the way. We must give Him time to work out the answer His way, and allow Him to work in us in the journey.
When I was 20 years old, God sovereignly spoke to me about getting married. I was excited, and assumed it would be happening immediately. How I was wrong! The weeks turned into months, and then into years. After a decade of waiting, I was growing very impatient. At that time my eyes were drawn to 1 Tim 6:6 “Godliness with contentment is great gain”. I realised that I had been far from content in my present situation of being single. God’s challenge for me was to be content in the present, while looking with faith towards His promise for the future.
It wasn’t long after I repented of my discontentment that a beautiful young woman walked into my life, answering my prayers and fulfilling God’s promise over my life.
God wants to give us the breakthroughs, but we must be patient during the journey, allowing Him to teach us vital lessons along the way. In this way we will receive a sustainable miracle, in His perfect time and perfect way.
