What is the prophetic meaning of the Feast of Trumpets, and what does the sound of the shofar reveal about the return of Jesus?
In this Bible study, Ps Enoch Lavender explores the Jewish and Messianic meaning of the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah) and its powerful connection to the Second Coming, the Day of the Lord, repentance, spiritual preparation and the coming King. The Feast of Trumpets is one of the biblical feasts described in Leviticus 23, but what exactly is the teruah? While often associated with the blowing of the shofar, the Hebrew word teruah can describe a trumpet blast, an alarm, a battle cry or even a great shout of joy.
This becomes particularly significant when we look at New Testament passages describing the return of Jesus. Paul tells us that at the resurrection, “the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible” (1 Corinthians 15:52). In 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, the Lord descends from heaven with a shout and the trumpet of God, and His people go out to meet the coming King.
But does this mean the Feast of Trumpets itself represents the final Day of the Lord?

Ps Enoch Lavender was born in Australia, raised in Norway, spent time living in China and is now based on the Gold Coast of Australia. He has been studying Hebrew and the Jewish roots of our faith for the past decade, and has a keen interest in the Middle East from a Bible prophecy perspective.
