The world has been quick to blame Israel for the recent strike on a hospital in Gaza.

Firstly, Hamas targets innocent civilians and celebrates it – the IDF doesn’t do either. The IDF warns civilians to leave before targeting buildings, and certainly wouldn’t have bombed the hospital without warning.

Secondly, an IDF review (and footage shown on Al Jazeera) shows that a stray rocket launched by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization caused the carnage.

While we mourn the loss of life, we need to keep the wider perspective in mind – this conflict would never have happened if Hamas hadn’t attacked. The civilians who suffer and die – on both sides – are ultimately caused by Hamas’ jihadist extremist views. Dealing with Hamas will deal with the problem – condemning Israel for defending herself, will not resolve the issue but rather continue to encourage jihadi extremism.
