According to Jewish tradition, the wicks of the Temple menorah (lampstand) were painstakingly made from old worn out priestly garments. This remarkable example of recycling teaches us that we can’t just discard the work of yesterday’s ministers. We truly stand on their shoulders and use what they put into us to light our path spiritually for the journey ahead.
While we all should seek deeper revelation and hunger for more of God than has been seen and understood in previous generations, we still should honour and glean nuggets of truth from those who have painstakingly gone before us.
